Les Wilson
Founder, President, Senior Advisor
The youngest of nine siblings, Les Wilson grew up in a single-parent household after the passing of his father. Watching his widowed mother pick up the pieces and work tirelessly to make ends meet helped instill in Les a strong work ethic — and an understanding of the true meaning of family.
“We didn’t have a lot financially, but what we did have was a whole lot of love,” Les recalls. “My passion for my career comes from what my family did without. With a little bit of planning, we could’ve had a completely different outcome growing up.”
Les is a financial professional who can offer both insurance and investment products and services. Before establishing Wilson Financial Group in 1992, he worked in the automotive industry at his family’s business. Starting his own young family with his wife, Angela, spurred Les to pursue financial services. “What I found was a career so satisfying, challenging and rewarding and one that is so much more than just a job,” he said. “I get to help people finish their dreams.”
Family is at the heart of who Les is both inside and out of the office. He and Angela have two adult sons — Garrett and Carter — and both have joined the Wilson Financial Group team. Whether it’s traveling, relaxing by the pool or working out at the gym, Les’ free time is spent mostly on activities he can enjoy with his wife and sons. A lifelong resident of Gastonia, North Carolina, Les also enjoys rooting on the Carolina Panthers, Carolina Hurricanes and North Carolina Tarheels in person any chance he gets.
